The Ethics of the Fragment
The Remnant Series is a radical exercise in material mindfulness. It serves as a visual record of the atelier’s lifecycle, constructed entirely from the architectural offcuts and fiber fragments generated during the creation of our larger installations.
By diverting these high-grade timbers and hand-dyed fibers from the waste stream, the series challenges the traditional definition of "excess". Each work is a non-linear iteration, ranging from framed structural studies to raw, unframed fiber explorations. There is no predetermined silhouette; instead, the form is dictated by the specific dimensions and properties of the available salvage.
This series is a meditation on the "hidden impact" of our daily choices. It invites the viewer to reconsider the value of the overlooked, transforming what was once considered structural surplus into a singular object of beauty. Through Remnant, we explore the responsibility of the maker to the planet, proving that the most profound expressions often emerge from the smallest, most quiet remains.
