the conversation behind the art

what happens when we work together

One of the most frequent things I hear from people is that they’ve been "following my work for a while" but weren't sure if their project was the right fit. If you’ve ever looked at a blank wall in your home and felt that it needed something — but you weren't sure exactly what — I want to pull back the curtain on how we actually work.

Commissioning a piece isn't about filling out a cold form; it’s the start of a dialogue between our studio and your space. Here is how we take that first spark of an idea and turn it into a physical, tactile anchor for your home.

it starts with the "setting" and the story

When you first reach out, the first thing I’ll ask for isn't a deposit — it's a story. Yes, I’ll ask for images of your architecture and the way the light moves through the room, but I’m also going to ask you what you want this piece to represent.

What do you want to remember? How do you want to feel when you look at it? Sometimes a piece is inspired by a specific landscape, a fleeting moment, a beloved place, or even a person. When we have these answers, we can create something with true intention and meaning. It becomes a piece you will never fall out of love with because it’s a part of your history. Of course, if you simply love the way my art looks and want it for its aesthetic beauty, that is perfectly fine too! But knowing the "why" helps us build something that truly belongs to you.

the two workshops

Once we’ve chatted and the direction is clear, the project moves into two distinct worlds. This is my favorite part to share. While I am in my studio preparing the fibers and thinking about the design of the weave, Prash is in his workshop hand-selecting timber specimens.

He looks for grain and character that match the "material direction" we discussed — finding the wood that speaks to the story we are telling. Every joint is cut by hand; every knot is hand-tied. Because we limit the number of bespoke projects we accept each year, we have the luxury of time to ensure that the material integrity of your piece is absolute.

staying in the loop

I know that waiting 4 to 6 weeks (sometimes more) for a piece to be created can feel like a long time. That’s why we share "studio updates" along the way. I’ll send you documentation of the artwork as it evolves. It’s a transparent way for us to check in and make sure the work is growing in harmony with what you envisioned. It’s not just a status report; it’s an invitation to see your art being born.

the final integration

When the work is finished, we don't just put it in a box and say goodbye. For our collectors here in portugal, we love to help with installation guidance. We want to make sure that when that 3x6 foot hanging finally meets your wall, it sits perfectly flush and looks like it was always meant to be there.

For those further away, we handle all the "heavy lifting" of customs and crating so the arrival of your art is a moment of excitement, not stress.

a final note on singularity

One of the most common questions I get is: "can you recreate this specific piece i saw in your portfolio?".

If you feel a deep pull toward a particular work from our archive, we absolutely use that as our compass. We can recreate that same "vibe", the same rhythmic tension, or that specific interplay of fiber and wood that caught your eye. However, we believe your art should be as singular as your story. Because every timber specimen Prash selects has its own grain, and every knot I tie reacts to the tension of that specific moment, no two pieces from our studio will ever be identical.

We don't do replicas; we do evolutions. This ensures that while you get the style you fell in love with, your piece remains a one-of-a-kind study that belongs solely to you and your space.

If you’ve been sitting on an idea, don’t feel you need to have it all figured out. Just reach out. Let’s start the dialogue and see what we can create together.
