soft sculptures
The Soft Sculptures series is a material inquiry into the structural mechanics of 16mm 3-ply natural cotton rope.
The technical core of this collection is the translation of historical knotting blueprints into three-dimensional, high-relief forms. By scaling the cordage to a dense, heavy gauge, the knot ceases to be an accent and becomes a self-supporting architectural object. The work relies entirely on the physical interaction between weight, internal friction, and gravity—capturing the raw, unvarnished character of raw cotton in a permanent state of volumetric tension.
