sailor knots installation
COMMISSIONED BY AN INTERIOR DESIGN TEAM FOR A PRIVATE YATCH
May 2025
This installation features twelve hand-tied knots, designed to bring organic softness and quiet luxury to the yacht’s dining space. Designed to be installed across three adjacent architectural niches, each holding four sculptural knots, the composition brings softness and quiet movement into the yacht’s dining area.
Created using 16mm natural cotton rope, the pieces draw inspiration from traditional sailor knots. A quiet tribute to maritime craftsmanship and the long-standing relationship between fiber and the sea. Each knot is approached with intention and respect for its original purpose, reimagined as sculptural forms that bring warmth, texture, and a sense of heritage into a contemporary setting.
This work reflects my dedication to site-specific textile installations, and to honouring tradition through modern craftsmanship.
