Exploring the Creative Journey: A Look into My Intuitive Process

Embarking on a creative journey is like setting sail on a sea of endless possibilities—each wave, each breeze, guiding you toward new horizons of inspiration and discovery. For me, creativity is not just a process; it's a journey of intuition, exploration, and self-discovery. In this post, I invite you to join me on a voyage through my creative process, from the initial spark of an idea to the final knot.

The Seed of Inspiration

Every creative journey begins with a spark—an idea, a concept, a feeling that ignites the imagination and sets the wheels of creativity in motion. For me, inspiration can strike at any moment, from the mundane to the extraordinary. Whether it's a fleeting moment of beauty, a nostalgic memory, or a profound emotion, I draw inspiration from the world around me, allowing it to fuel my creativity and guide my artistic vision.

Curating Materials

Once the seed of inspiration has been planted, the next step is to curate the materials needed to bring my vision to life. Sometimes, this involves carefully selecting fibers that align with my concept. Other times, it's about gathering materials without a clear plan in mind, allowing intuition to guide me as I explore new textures and techniques.

Allowing Intuition to Guide the Creative Process

With materials in hand, I dive into the creative process with an open heart and a willingness to let intuition be my guide. I trust my instincts, allowing my hands to move freely as they weave, knot, stitch, and shape. I step back from the piece regularly, listening to that inner voice that tells me whether I'm on the right path or need to course-correct. It's a dance of intuition and intention, a delicate balance between surrender and control.

Embracing the Unknown

Some of my most transformative creative experiences have come from embracing the unknown—those moments when I let go of preconceived notions and allow myself to simply explore and experiment. Without a clear plan or concept, I dive into the creative process with a sense of curiosity and wonder, eager to see where the journey will take me. It's in these moments of spontaneity and play that I truly learn and grow as an artist.

Sketching and Planning

While intuition guides much of my creative process, there are times when a clear vision emerges, and I feel compelled to capture it in a sketch or plan. This is especially true when working on commissions or collaborative projects, where communication and clarity are key. Sketching allows me to flesh out my ideas, communicate with clients, and ensure that everyone involved is on the same page.

Finding Inspiration in Everyday Moments

Inspiration is everywhere, if only we have the eyes to see it. For me, moving back to my hometown in Portugal after a decade abroad has been a source of endless inspiration. The sights, sounds, and sensations of everyday life—the warmth of the sun on my skin, the scent of blooming flowers, the gentle murmur of the river flowing by—fuel my creativity and remind me of the beauty and richness of life.

Conclusion

And there you have it—a glimpse into my intuitive creative process. From the initial spark of inspiration to the final flourish of a finished piece, creativity is a journey of exploration, discovery, and self-expression.

Whether guided by intuition, inspired by personal experiences, or fueled by curiosity, each step of the creative process brings me closer to understanding myself and the world around me.

So here's to embracing the unknown, trusting the process, and allowing creativity to be our guide on this wondrous journey called life.
